Program Focus
This five-day course is intended to provide an in-depth review of topics that are designed for individuals seeking a more advanced knowledge of business appraisal/valuation methodology and report writing. It is designed to cover topics specifically for business valuations of controlling and minority interests.

What You Will Learn
At the completion of this course attendees will:

  • Have an in-depth familiarity with the income, asset, and market approaches and methods to appraisal/valuation, including knowing when and how to apply the methods

  • Be able to select and apply appropriate adjustments to value, including entity and shareholder level adjustments

  • Be familiar with business appraisal/valuation report writing standards, organization, and content

  • Know when and how to provide inductive and deductive reasoning to support appraisal/valuation concepts

Daily Schedule
The first three days are designed to educate students on the application of the income, asset, and market approaches and methods, applicable to both control and partial ownership interests.

Day 4 is geared to providing an understanding of adjustments to value, including discounts for lack of control and lack of marketability, and S Corporation premiums.

Day 5 covers report writing requirements, including the use of grammar, alternative reporting formats, both good and bad examples of report language, and present solutions for presenting technical information in a readable and understandable form.

Dennis Bingham, MCBA, BVAL
Dennis Bingham is President of Corporate Appraisal, Inc. an Eden Prairie, Minnesota based valuation firm providing business valuations for both operating and holding companies, including controlling and partial interests.

Dennis has been a speaker at the National Conference of the IBA and has been published in the Journal of Business Appraisal Practice, and Family Law. He has served as an instructor for various IBA seminars and as an ad hoc professor at the University of St. Thomas.

KC Conrad, CBA, CMEA, ASA
KC Conrad is a principal in American Business Appraisers, LLC of Phoenix, Arizona, a firm specializing in business valuation, machinery & equipment appraising and business counseling support services. KC has served as an expert witness in litigation matters, has had numerous articles published and has written courses relating to business valuation issues. He is a course instructor for the Institute of Business Appraisers, NEBB Institute and Arizona Business Brokers Association.
