Fort Lauderdale, FL—May 27, 2009—The Institute of Business Appraisers (IBA), the pioneer of business appraisal education, professional certification, and resources, today announced that Doug Gaskins, of Business Appraisal Group, LLC, based in Georgia, has been elected as a member of IBA’s Ethics and Standards Board, which is charged with monitoring IBA’s membership with regards to ethical and professional standards.
The Ethics and Standards Board is responsible for formulating proposals to the Governors for changes to and interpretation of IBA’s business appraisal code of ethics and standards. The Board is responsible for drafting technical opinions on issues involving ethics and standards rules and promoting member awareness and compliance with IBA’s business appraisal code of ethics and standards. In addition, the Board will monitor changes in the national and international valuation standards and government statutory and regulatory actions. IBA is very pleased that Doug Gaskins has offered his strong commitment to help ensure that IBA continues to effectively communicate its standards and investigate possible violations by serving on this very important Board.
Doug Gaskins is a Certified Business Appraiser (CBA) accredited by the Institute of Business Appraisers and and is a member of the American Society of Appraisers (ASA). He is a qualified expert witness and provides litigation support and consulting services for law firms. Mr. Gaskins brings his experience as a Chairman of the Board of a community bank for 22 years and Chairman of the Board for a for-profit hospital for 18 years to the association’s leadership position.
IBA’s elections were held in May of 2009. The Ethics and Standards Board nominations are open to the entire membership. Each elected member serves voluntarily and each commits to uphold the Board’s charter, participate in Board meetings, and attend IBA’s Annual Conference.
The Institute of Business Appraisers was the first organization to adopt business appraisal standards and ethics.
