New Governors Board & Committee Positions
The Governors established the following Board and Committee structure:
Accreditation Board
Education Board
Mentor Committee
Qualifications Review Committee
Symposium Committee
IBA Boards are high-level entities that provide members with an opportunity for direct, hands-on involvement in critical Institute activities. The majority of Board positions are elected by the IBA membership. Each Board will work with a liaison member of the IBA Governors. The Ethics and Standards Board is responsible for formulating proposals to the Governors for changes to and interpretations of IBA’s Codes of Ethics and Standards. The Accreditation Board oversees the accreditation process and makes recommendations to the Governors regarding proposed enhancements or changes to the process. The Education Board provides input and assistance to Headquarters on IBA’s educational offerings.
IBA Committees are volunteer entities that provide an opportunity to a wider number of members to participate in Institute activities. The Mentoring Committee will oversee the recruiting and training of mentors for members. The Qualifications Review Committee is responsible for conducting the peer review of candidates for accreditation. The Symposium Committee assists Headquarters in planning, organizing, and delivering IBA’s annual Symposium.
IBA Boards, advised by members of the Governors, will develop charters for the Committees. Committee Chairs will be appointed by Headquarters.
During April, 2009, elections will be held for the IBA Boards. To allow for efficient rotation, members will be elected for one, two, and three year terms. Nominations for Board positions are being accepted from the membership during March, 2009, and can include self-nominations. Election results will be announced at the IBA Symposium in May, 2009.
During 2009, applications will also be solicited and accepted for the IBA Committees. Committee membership is on a voluntary basis.
